Celebrating Women in March: Interviews with TUJ Professors

Artwork by Kaori Konuta

March is Women’s History Month (corresponding with International Women's Day which was on the 8th) to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. To help commemorate this momentous occasion, UPRIZINE will be running a feature on the women who helped inspire TUJ professors throughout the month of March. Beginning tomorrow, each participating professor will be given a day to spotlight their responses. Each professor was asked to respond to these four questions:

1. Who was a woman in your life who inspired you to become who you are today?

2. In what ways did she help you become the person you are today?

3. What aspects of her do you see manifested in yourself?

4. How do you carry on her legacy?

The purpose of this feature is to help student and faculty members of all gender identities understand the significance of women. This is why the participants were asked to choose a female figure who was personally involved in their lives, in the hopes of giving readers the opportunity to reflect upon all the women in their own lives.

The questions given to the participants were not easy to answer. I am extremely grateful to each professor for taking the time out of their already busy schedule to give each question the deep thought that it deserved. For doing so, the UPRIZINE Team extends our sincerest thank you's. The perspectives that you shared with us come highly appreciated and valued.
